This body of work was created as a response to my experiences with the culture and history of the so-called old world. I was fascinated by the canonical history of Western Art and especially Spanish art and this was my first round of processing the bloody, suffering, yearning archetype of the magus, the Faustus, searching for a way to enlighten through suffering and experience, yearning to create beauty, but falling, failing, and paying for hubris and devilish deal making.
