!APT is a loose cadre of musicians, performers, and visual artists committed to creating multi-media performances that expand consciousness and engage viewers by questioning the fundamental premises of our contemporary historical, socio-economic, political and spiritual structures. !APT stands for the Armageddon Prevention Team.
I was invited by the group to participate in the staging of the performance titled "All People's Temple" as a set designer/builder. The premise of the show, and specifications of the set, were that it be modular, in that, able to be built and dis-assembled during the course of the performance. I executed the design in acrylic paint on 3/4 inch plywood and 1/8" door skin.
The performance debuted at the "Symbiosis Gathering" music and arts festival at Camp Mather, Ca on Sept 20th, 2009. A subsequent performance, for which I elaborated and developed the painting, was performed at Temple Night Club in San Francisco, Ca on Nov 22nd, 2009.
This is the largest painting I have ever made. It is still available for exhibition.
Many thanks to Chris Sia, Eugene Steele, Dylan Lane, Ross Moriel, Lauren Napolitano, Denise Amos, Bert Yip, David Quintero, the Symbiosis Crew and Temple Nightclub.
