"Self Addressed Stylistic Experiment" was created for my 2009 solo show at Space Gallery in San Francisco. With it, I refined and developed my "archetoonistic" lexicon. The mixed media techniques took on an vital, restrained, fresh cadence and impetus and moved into a classical formal eloquence. After this series I decided it was time start drawing the world of object vision into the idiomatic/abstract representational world I had created. I began sourcing botanical and figurative images from my life to dialogue with the stylized graphical world of my thought experiments...I wanted to make the surface of the pictures, and the pictures in the pictures, more maleable and contingent, and at the same time stronger and more solid...
