As I re entered my current period of creative practice, beginning with the "Discerning Narrative" drawings, I was interested in developing a figurative lexicon and surrealist narrative that concerned primordial forms and the origins of things. The creative process itself became a character...many of the pictures are self portraits, pictures of the self thinking thing, portraying the act of consciousness creating its world. The borders of this process are birth and death, but imagination reaches back and gropes forward, past my own historical moment, to past cultures, and future dreams...
