fall/winter 2010/11
Once I had an established space to make painting again I began to transition back into traditional primed surfaces to work on. It became very important to explore the spaces between painting and drawing. As I explored, I was gaining access to a deeper, intuitive understanding of forgetting and erasure, expectations and movement in a picture-object. Representational images were drained of specificity, becoming fossilized, mythologized...abstract painting kept finding images, the whole process going deeper into the business of writing myths...and it kept leading back to love and sex and death...to Life. Art, the eternal stall tactic...I thought I would brand my paintings...turns out they branded me...
