Located in Yosemite National Park, on one of the only roads to fully traverse the range in summer, this stunning alpine lake, like most places in this country, was once the site of desperate conflict. Something about the granite gives one the long view, though, and can see the dialectic at work. Whatever conflicts, eventually melds, in some form or another.
