Part of the conceptual hook to combine performance and video with painting was exploring further (as I had begun to with the Mythologistics show the year before) the tensions I felt between creating working in my studio for myself to appease an existential need, and the use of art-work as a commercial enterprise, to provide entertainment or some other sort of value for an audience, in order to satiate my physical needs. I like things that are many things at once.
