2007-2009: breaking spaces mixed media
Mixed media on raw wood panels...
In this body of work suggestive spaces of potentiality and mystery are generated by working directly on "raw" hardwood panels with various media. Dualities dance around mythological memes in strange no-spaces created by modular color fields and swirling, gestural passages of translucent resin. Organic forms are juxtaposed against angular origami-like motifs, suggesting nature v. technology, intuition v. reason, etc. I see these pieces as alchemical experiments designed to challenge the assumption of continuity and stasis associated with image-objects, seeking to establish a field of experience; access spaces into the dynamic, sacred realities of auto-conscious experience.
