This piece is based on a view from the Coast Starlight Amtrack train, where it passes through Point Conception and the Hollister & Bixby Ranches, looking inland up one of the Canyons, or, arroyos , from one of the best right-hand point break surfing waves in California. It is a remote, wild, desolate and beautiful place, filled with rattlesnakes and coyote, cattle and sagebrush, and surfers on a pilgrimage.
