Mythotopia:
This is the work I've made during the last few years. I've been so much with life; becoming an architect and dealing with a brain tumor, and saving my little brother from homeless meth addiction and, you know, the usual pandemic and civil unrest stuff, and falling in love, and I've been meditating a lot on Place.

Specifically, my place...

...California, 1981-???

The pictures are exploring the way space, material, class, capital, mythology, science, art, history, language, symbology, and, increasingly, information technology, all inform the visual experience of life. I think it's fascinating the way that all these lay on top of each other to inform/create humans' interactions with the environment...the interplay of thinking and being, remembering and becoming...moving and un-remembering...the map may not be the territory, but the "landscape", per se, can only exists in relationship to a viewer.

I love drawing. I love painting. I love the interesting ambiguous areas between the two. I, for one, believe that the important things happen in the doing, in the messy in-between space of not-knowing; in the moments of discovery; the mistakes.

Art is about mistakes.

I hope you enjoy the work, I hope it feeds you the way it feeds me. It's such an agitating world. Can be. But I work really hard to put rhythm into the fragments, here. Balance. Harmony.

Please reach out with any questions or comments, I appreciate any and all feedback.
